Thanks for your interest in submitting to the 2012 Dummy Clap Film Festival. This will be the inaugural year of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival’s own film shindig. The Dummy Clap Film Festival will screen and shed some light on music videos, shorts, feature films and documentaries about Hip-Hop culture and the filmmakers who embody Hip-Hop’s revolutionary spirit. 

Selections submitted by independent filmmakers will be screened and followed by works from some of Brooklyn’s prominent voices. There will be three screening blocks - one featuring music video submission, one featuring all independent film submissions (shorts, features, documentaries) and, lastly, a screening featuring significant works in both the film and Hip Hop worlds.

We will be accepting submissions in one of THREE ways. The first is by sending us a URL link (either YouTube or Vimeo). There is a field for URL link submissions on the entry form following this screen.

The second is by sending the screening committee TWO DVD copies of your submission. We only accept NTSC Region 1 or 0-compatible DVDs for preview. We cannot view PAL or BETA tapes, VHS tapes or PAL DVDs. Please be sure to label your DVD with the Film's title, Director's name, the date of the cut, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, your 8-digit confirmation number. Please indicate that your package does not require a signature upon delivery. Send 1 copy to each of these addresses:

The third is digitally via Dropbox. Dropbox is a free service that allows you to share your submission with us privately through the Internet.

1)   Create a folder in your Dropbox window and label it with the Primary Contact’s name AND the 8-digit confirmation number you receive after paying your submission fee.

2)   In that folder, please contain a Quicktime-compatible (MOV or MP4 file format) version of your submitted work.

3)   Right-click (Window/Linux) or Control-Click (Mac) folder in your Dropbox, and select ‘Shared folder options’ (You may have to first Browse on Dropbox Website).

4)   Invite dummyclap@brooklynbodega.com and we’ll take it from there! The personal message with your invitation is optional – the entry form is plenty! 

PLEASE NOTE: a free Dropbox account only provides you with 2 GB of space and 500 MB per referral. If you need more space, you can refer your friends, upgrade your Dropbox account, or try one of our other submission options.

If your work is selected to show at the Dummy Clap Film Festival, we will work with you to ensure it is screened in the most appropriate format.
